Year 7 Transition Programme

Welcome to Caterham High School! We are so delighted that your child will be joining us in September.

We understand how important a successful transition will be to your child and to you. Therefore, our aim is to make this transition exciting and informative, but also to use this time to get to know your child.

We will be hosting some key events at Caterham High School over the summer term, and invite you to attend as many possible. Invitation reminders will be sent out closer to the time.

Year 6 House BBQ:

The first big event will be our Year 6 House BBQ. This takes place on Thursday 26^th May from 2pm. Refreshments will be available to purchase on the day, but most importantly you will meet key staff who will be involved in your child’s transition. You will also learn about our House System, meet the Heads of Houses and have the opportunity to take part in some really fun activities.

Picnic on the Green:

This will be followed by our Picnic on the Green, this take place on Thursday 23^rd June from 2pm. We invite you to bring your lunch, we host fun and games and tours of the school with Senior teachers.

Transition Day:

The last, but most important event is the borough transition day which is on Thursday 7^TH July. This is where your child gets to the opportunity to spend the day with us in school, taking part in taster lessons and getting a full secondary school experience.

Students will also begin to make new friends and to become familiar with Caterham High School’s campus. This will help them to feel happy and confident about starting with us in September

This will be followed by an individual transition interview with families and their child. The interview will be with senor staff from 3pm. We will complete paperwork and give you the opportunity to tell us about any important information or significant needs your child may have.

Finally, if for any reason you are considering not taking up the place you have been offered, we would be grateful if you could let the Local Authority Admissions Team know as soon as possible. This will allow the place to be offered to another family on our waiting list.
