Governors
As Governors of Caterham High School, we are passionate about education and our local area. We are drawn from across the local community: two Governors are parents of current students at the school, elected by parents; one Governor is elected by the Caterham staff, and the Headteacher is also a Governor by right. The rest of us are people who have put ourselves forward because we want to help ensure the best possible opportunities for all young people. We are a good mix of people with different ages, backgrounds and ethnicities.
It is not our job to run the school - that is the task of the Headteacher and her senior team. Our role is to provide good governance by offering the support and challenge needed to ensure that the school is well run. We work on behalf of parents and carers, the wider community and - most importantly – the students.
The Governors meet regularly during the school year, whether in the Full Governing Body or its two main sub-Committees, one focussing on Standards (teaching, learning and pupil achievement) and one on Resources (management issues). In those meetings we challenge the school to explain what it is seeking to achieve - and then check whether it is succeeding.
In everything we do, our aim is to ensure that Caterham provides an outstanding and inclusive learning environment in which all students realise their full potential.

| Former Governors | From the beginning of 2020, the Governing Body had three resignations, namely Ms Reeshma Sivadasan (co-opted Governor), Mr Amin Mirza (parent Governor) and Ms Jacqueline Mercer (co-opted Governor). They resigned in January, March and July respectively. Mr Robert Mullis term ended 2nd October 2021. Mr Peter Waller term ended 2nd October 2021. Ms Rochael Nicholas stepped down 14th October 2021. Mr Muneeb Chowdhry (Co-opted Governor) stepped down in March 2022. Ms Ms Aiysha Kazi Gati resigned in June 2022at the end of her term. Ms Farah Tasneem term ended on 6th February 2023 and Mr Pardeep Bhakar term ended on 6th June 2023. Ms Machnicki left on 31st August 2023. Ms Coffey and Mr Walhs left on 31st December 2023. |
